the myth of their fake smiles
Cinderella's glass slipper
a smile is something I always thought I had to fake ask me two years ago I’d say it was a mask people wore them, you know? seeing them so positive made me want to avoid them why are they smiling even with their eyes? thinking that if I got too close their battery would just drain mine in an instant polar opposites, to say less plus minus, and then zap and you’ll have nothing left It’s interesting I thought their smile was like Cinderella's glass slipper something so fragile that I'd break it just because mine needed to be handled with caution but maybe I was wrong but maybe we're wrong to think their smile isn’t anchored in joy but in pure appearance do we really know the battles they had to fight just to make it out of their yesterday?
Heart Call:
People around us may look polished on the outside. But we can’t assume we know others inside out. Because smiles are really just evidence of battles you’ve survived too.
Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength. — Nehemiah 8:10 (NIV)
Do I assume someone else’s joy is fragile
because I’m still learning how to carry my own?
How might my posture toward others change if I approached
their smiles with curiosity instead of caution?
